The world's 'Great Ignored'

Given that the ‘Great Ignored’ became a talking point in the general election, we thought we’d take the opportunity to tell people about some of the world’s great ignored – Dalit men and women. Dalits - formerly known as ‘untouchables’ or ‘outcastes’ – number more than 160 million people in India alone. Dalit women face double layers of discrimination, violence, enslavement and exclusion from decision-making on account of both their caste and their gender. ‘Defiant Voices’ is a landmark online photo exhibition illustrating the daily lives of Dalit communities in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The world's real 'Great Ignored'
Hi,

Given that the Great Ignored became a talking point in the general election, I'm supporting One World Action to raise awareness around one of the world’s great ignored populations – Dalits. Dalits, formerly known as untouchables or outcastes, number more than 160 million people in India alone. Dalit women face double layers of discrimination, violence, enslavement and exclusion from decision-making on account of both their caste and their gender.

‘Defiant Voices’ is a landmark online photo exhibition illustrating the daily lives of Dalit communities in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Please take some time out to watch it by following the link below. Help us to double the number of people who have seen it.
