Sign the Women's Rights Pledge...
Women across the world bear the brunt of poverty, violence and discrimination. And crucially, women lack one of the most important tools in transforming this situation - power. Women are fifty per cent of the world's population, but less than twenty per cent of the world's decisionmakers. Across the globe, when women work to transform their lives and make their voices heard, they face countless hurdles.
In Latin America, One World Action's partners face violence when they dare to take part in local politics. In Asia, our partners are denied access to decision-making because their caste means exclusion from public life. In Africa, our partners have survived rape in one nation to be met by the same danger in another and are fighting to ensure their voices are heard.
Enough is enough. Women's Rights ARE Human Rights.
I pledge to take a stand with women around the world; to be a Women's Rights Champion for One World Action; and to use my voice to amplify the voices of those who are fighting to be heard.
And I urge MPs to stand up for women whose rights to participate in politics are violated; and to ensure that the UK parliament is on the side of women around the world who are fighting for equality.
